A Digital Overhaul for Award-Winning North West Caterer.

The Client

Mellors Catering Services are an award-winning, family-owned contract catering business in the North West of England and they are committed to delivering quality food to schools, companies and industrial sites across the North.

Project Overview

In 2023 Heckford won the opportunity to redesign and redevelop the Mellors website and produce other material to support the new website and promote the business across other platforms.

To kickstart the process and to help showcase the wonderful food, staff and ethos Mellors have, a video and photography shoot was arranged to capture images and interviews to produce a short introductory video to Mellors, as well as having a great bank of visual content that can be used across a wide range of projects.

Across the two-day shoot three sites were visited, a primary school, a secondary school and a sixth form college where all the amazing food was captured in its best light and the staff and students shared their thoughts on their lunch time treats.

Once back at Heckford the footage was organised and recoloured to show off the food to its best and a brief outline of the content and flow of the video was produced before the editing started.

Friendly, approachable and high quality food

It was imperative that Mellors brand, company ethos and their visual brand assets were carried through consistently in both the video aesthetic and the website design. While this sometimes proved challenging and required balancing aesthetic and functionality, the visual brand assets bring a lot of fun to both projects, and hopefully the viewers of the video and website.

The website was a complete overhaul of content and aesthetic but kept the friendly and welcoming feel that is so intrinsic to Mellors’ culture. As with any Heckford built website it is fully responsive displaying beautifully across different devices. Additional functionality included a page for ‘currant’ vacancies (just one of the many food puns dotted throughout the site – how many can you spot?), various options for contacting Mellors via the online forms and a language converter to accommodate Mellors’ user base.

Post Development Support

Training was provided for the Mellors’ marketing team so they can update the website when necessary and this was kept in mind during the build – building robust but easily managed websites is something we strive for in every website build at Heckford.
